Latest piracy reports from ICC CCS (to 3 July 06)

Latest ICC Commercial Crime Services piracy report here. Highlights indicate increased activity in Strait of Malacca:
03.07.2006 at 2105 UTC in position: 05:17.0N - 098:01.5E, off Acheh, Malacca straits.
Armed pirates in an unlit speedboat, blue hull, length about 10 meters Approached a bulk carrier underway. They tried to board from stern. D/O Raised alarm, crew mustered and activated fire hoses and directed search lights. Noticing crew alertness, pirates aborted boarding.

02.07.2006 at 2145 LT enroute from Belawan to Lhokseumawe, Acheh, Indonesia.
Pirates boarded a landing craft underway carrying tsunami relief cargo. They stole ship's equipment and escaped.

02.07.2006 at Langsa, north Sumatra, Indonesia.
Pirates boarded a landing craft underway carrying tsunami relief cargo. They stole cash and personal belongings from crew and escaped.
