Somali pirates overcome by "soldiers" - ship released


The ship captured by Somali pirates on Nov 1 is freed:
The UAE-flagged ship MV Veesham I, which was hijacked on November 1 off the coast of Somalia, was yesterday got freed by soldiers of the country's new Islamic Movement government.

The soldiers boarded the vessel, which was off the east coast of Somalia between the ports of Mereej and Obbia. They overpowered the 10 hijackers, injuring two of them, said a source from Dubai-based Veesham Shipping Incorporation, owners of the vessel.

He noted that this was the first-ever successful operation carried out to liberate a ship off the lawless Somalian coast.
You know, except that thing with the U.S. Navy and the Somalis now headed to a Kenyan prison....
