This would be a good time for the Indian Navy to stamp their authority as a major regional naval power and get to grips with piracy that is now on their doorstep. The Maldives, who rely on Indian naval protection, would also be grateful for some overt action before their tourist industry hits the deck after the first hijack of a yacht or inter island cruise ship occurs.
