Nice summary on "Reducing U.S. Dependence on Middle Eastern Oil"

Found here, a nice summary on "Reducing U.S. Dependence on Middle Eastern Oil" from the Heritage Foundation.

Perhaps now is the time topint out again that while an unstable Middle East supply is aa pirmary concern, we also need to be concerned over other soources, like Venezuela and Nigeria.

We need to get on alternative fuels as soon as is practicable. My suggestionis that the part of the Defense budget that is going to help keep open the lines of communication from the foreign oil fields to the US be placed as a federal tax directly onto the oil and gas prices (as opposed to be melded into the income tax and federal borrowing) paid by the consumers so that alternative fuels may become more financially attractive to the consumer.

And we need more nuclear electrical generating facilities - now!
