On the Ukraine

I haven't posted on the Ukraine for a couple of reasons. First, I am completely without any knowledge of the area, never studied it, never served there and never have been there (whereas I have some experience with other areas). Secondly, well, I basically agree with what GeoPolitical Review writes here:

So in the end, it was nearly impossible for us to discern propaganda from reality in the Ukrainian election fiasco and provide a straight assessment.

I note that John Rosenthal over at Transatlantic Intelligencer has posted a number times on the situation and has warned that things were/are not as portrayed in the MSM. I suggest you take a look at his site if for no other reason than to get a different viewpoint.
