South China Sea: Japan and India Join in Rejecting Chinese Claims

A little report of some tension with China over the South China Sea leading to new alliances here:
With China flexing muscles in its neighbourhood, India and Japan on Thursday came together to assert their freedom of navigation in international sea lanes.

Defence minister A. K Antony met his Japanese counterpart Yasuo Ichikawa in Tokyo and discussed maritime security issues. India had recently tasted China's high handedness in the seas. An Indian warship on the way to a Vietnamese port received a warning on its radio that it should steer clear of the South China Sea. It is believed that the communication came from the Chinese as it has a maritime dispute with Vietnam.

The question is did the Indian vessel heed the warning?
