Friday Reading

Fred Fry is out on a lark some place, but the gCaptain team filled in with Maritime Monday 152 with a weekends worth of links related to sea things.

A classic from the US Naval Institute blog: Samuel P. Huntington's ‘National Policy and the Transoceanic Navy’. "Justify your existence!" is always a challenge, especially for a Navy, especially during times of peace or land action.

CDR Salamander's Fullbore Friday finds a lesson in a tall ship.

Steeljaw: Rules are for Suckers.

Lex counts down to ten.

I dunno, something reminds me of quote from Starship Troopers:
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion [that violence never settles anything] is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms."

Me? I'm just a guy watching basketball --- lots of basketball. 6 overtimes for teams I otherwise have no stake in.... and then it's the ACC tourney.
